Strategic
Direction for 2000-2003
Executive
Summary
This
strategic direction focuses MRDC initiatives on key strategies
that will strengthen its ability to remain a viable and relevant
leader in its field for the fiscal years 2000 to 2003 and beyond.
Emerging from and guided by MRDC's mission and vision, it is
concerned with long-term macro issues of the organization as
a whole. Once set, strategic direction guides the staff, board,
and committees in setting annual work plans.
The
strategic direction for 2000-2003 describes six key focus areas
which MRDC's leadership considers important over the next three
years. These focus areas are:
1. Leadership.
Pro-active
and effective leadership in issues that affect the quality of
life in rural Maryland;
2. Technology.
An
integrated technology system that supports the delivery of quality
services and effective communication;
3. Collaborations.
Effective
collaborations with communities and service partners;
4. Outcome-based planning.
Results-oriented
planning, delivery and reporting of services to communities;
5. Marketing.
Promotion
of the agency's vision and services to rural Maryland; and
6. Organizational environment of innovation
and learning.
An
environment that promotes innovation, learning and the retention
of quality Staff.
This
plan is a companion document to the Report: Administrative Retreat
November 13-14, 1996; Report: Strategic Planning Retreat, May
5-6,1998; MD-RCAP Strategic Plan FY 2000; and current goals
and objectives in tactical plans which have been articulated
in existing funding proposals and program planning documents.
