MRDC provides services to promote education, equality, and the environment in rural Maryland. We do this by:
Transportation Program
MRDC Transportation Service is limited to residents of Cecil County.
Services provided to low-income individuals include transportation to and from job sites as well as interviews, job training, and daycare access. Funding for this program is provided by grants from MTA and donations from the Commissioners of Cecil County.
In addition to the Job Access/Reverse Commute ( JARC ) program, MRDC is contracted by Upper Bay Counseling and Support Services to transport students from Kindergarten thru grade 12 from their respective school district to a Therapeutic Day Program where they receive counseling and scholastic instruction at a level above and beyond that available through the public school system.
Through the efforts of two full year, part-time drivers utilizing minivans, we served 86 families during 2008.
That number translates into 57 children who were able to obtain services which would not have been possible otherwise.
The JARC program made it possible for 29 individuals to maintain employment rather than being dependent upon the welfare system.
The MRDC Transportation office is located at 2057 W. Pulaski Highway, North East, MD 21901.
Eligible persons can access services by calling 410 287-5023 Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
